GIVE-IT-BAG is a project located in Cape-Town (SA). They recycle packaging material to create unique bags. 50% of the profit from GIVE-IT-BAG in South Africa goes towards doing good in the world.
What would happen if everyone did some good? The world would become a very different place. Many small acts of kindness can lead to huge, positive change. With a GIVE IT BAG you carry more than just a unique bag. You also make the world a better place and give people a reason to smile. Because you’re doing good. The number on this bag belongs to you and your good deed. Tell others about your GOOD DEED and inspire them to get involved. Or post a wish - and maybe someone will seize the opportunity and make it come true. And we’ll share the load with you: But that’s not all. The bags are made from recycled material that started out as packaging for salt, sugar, rice, beans, flour etc. They’ve found their way to South Africa from every corner of the world - each print is different and volume is limited - which ensures that every bag is part of a Limited Edition. By keeping durable Polypropylen out of the garbage dumps and reusing it, you and your environment are better off. Our love for this part of the world drew us to Cape Town where a renovation project was our first introduction to rubble bags. Here they’re sold in DIY shops to carry construction rubble in, thus they’re really strong. And they look so cool because the print is always different. Bags full of rice, coffee, tea, sugar, salt etc. make their way to Cape Town from every corner of the world. Our partners collect the empty bags and we look through the lot to choose the ones that would make great bags. Then the bags are cut and cleaned. As soon as we are happy with the final cut, it is delivered to our bag-making partner. No effort is spared to produce the best quality bags. Each piece of rubble bag fabric is cut by hand with a heat cutter to keep the edges from fraying. The fabric and lining change continually so there’s no cast-in-stone production process. It would have been cheaper in Asia, but we’re committed to keeping it local. Not just the bags, but also the labels, stickers and packaging are made here.
